Under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, the UAFS Symphonic Band performs classic wind band repertoire as well as new and exciting contemporary compositions. This versatile instrumental ensemble consists of approximately 50 musicians, both music majors and non- majors, who join together to perform several concerts each semester for music lovers in the Fort Smith community. The band is dedicated to broadening the artistic level and interest
of its members. From rousing Sousa marches to inspirational symphonic hymns and most everything in between, they perform challenging music of artistic and historical significance. |

The highly energetic and entertaining Jazz Band brings top-notch performances of varied repertoire to the Fort Smith area through top student performers at UAFS and world-renowned guest artists. The award-winning Jazz Catz are one of the Fort Smith area’s outstanding vocal ensembles, having performed with renowned groups like The Manhattan Transfer and in venues that include Carnegie Hall.
Rosana Eckert is an internationally recognized jazz vocalist, songwriter, arranger, and educator based out of Dallas. She has performed with such jazz greats as Lyle Mays, Kenny Wheeler, Christian McBride, George Duke, and Bobby McFerrin. She toured as a sub in the Grammy Award-winning vocal quartet New York Voices, and she will now be performing with the UAFS Jazz Band and Jazz Catz on March 29. |
